The Showplace of the Delta
Built in the late 1930s by Jim Crain of the Crain Company, Oak Meadow was designed from the ground up to be a showstopper — from the 550-foot oak-lined drive to the two-story Classical Revival columns at the front door. It was known across the region as the 'Showplace of the Delta,' and that reputation was earned.
Step out the back door and you're in Magnolia Alley — a beautiful courtyard lined with mature magnolia trees, with a lake and Tin House Golf Club as your backdrop. The estate sits on 25 acres in the heart of Wilson, Arkansas, one of the most storied towns in the Mississippi Delta.

A Century of Delta History
Jim Crain built Oak Meadow as a statement — and it delivered. He served as managing trustee of the Lee & Wilson Company for 17 years, a firm that at its peak farmed 65,000 acres of Delta row crop land. A pioneer in agricultural industrialization, Crain helped implement the levee and drainage systems that made the Delta farmable. He also served as Chairman of the State Highway Commission, Chairman of the Wilson School District, and helped organize the first cooperative industry in Arkansas.
The original copper accents still adorn the exterior of the home, with '1937' engravings you can still read today. The 550-foot oak-lined drive, the Classical Revival columns, the magnolia courtyard — all of it original, all of it still standing.
In 2010, Gaylon Lawrence purchased the town of Wilson and transformed it into a destination — investing in the Wilson Cafe, The Louis Hotel, Tin House Golf Club, the Field Club, Gunn's Fresh Market, the Hampson Museum, and more. Wilson today is a genuine Delta destination, and Oak Meadow sits right in the middle of it.
